Welcome to the Junior Cycle Physical Education Support Service (JCPESS) website. The aim of the service is to provide on-going support and professional development for all junior cycle physical education teachers. In pursuit of this aim we are involved in developmental work in a number of areas. This website will keep you up to date with this work and provide you with information and resources to support the implementation of the JCPE syllabus in schools.  The site also provides a forum to facilitate teachers sharing ideas.  The JCPESS is administered from Mayo Education Centre.

The JCPE Support Service, under the auspices of the Second Level Support Service is seeking to establish a panel of Local Facilitators in the coming weeks. It is envisaged that these facilitators will support and organise professional development activities for other physical education teachers in their region, within the framework of the support services, and in partnership with the Education Centre Network and the Physical Education Association of Ireland.

I would encourage all of you who are interested in furthering your own professional development and that of others, to apply. While the contracts to be issued will only pertain to this academic year, the existence of the proposed panel will help with the establishment of regional networks into the future.

You will be contacted shortly thereafter regarding a preparation day, which is tentatively set for Friday 7th May, 2010 in Athlone Education Centre. Please note that these arrangements are subject to change. You will be contacted directly with further details on receipt of your application.
